Types of stool like this example were sat upon as a symbol of status and rank. They were not the every day type of village stool, therefore they are a lot harder to find.
This stool has been carved in a configuration of three curved legs with a series of three half projections curving downwards from the seat of the chair. This form of stool is typical of ceremonial stools from this region of Tanzania. It is large in form with a large circular shaped seat.
