The slender, refined and sculptural form of a small female figure surmounts this hair adornment. The female figure is depicted standing in an upright position, with both her arms resting on her stomach and legs blending into the body of the pin. Her facial features, most notably her mouth, have been beautifully worn away as a result of handling over time - yet it is still possible to discern a striking pair of coffee bean-shaped eyes, a typical feature found among Luba sculptures. Crowning her head is a finely carved coiffure; an abstracted representation of an elaborate Luba hairstyle. A striking feature of this piece is its beautifully worn surface patina.
