Resembling the upturned beak of a bird, the shape of this Chokwe title staff exhibits a beautiful, simplistic form. A series of notches located towards the top of the staff provide a decorative detail, and fine engraved geometric patterns can be found throughout the surface of the prestige object.
The shape of the staff suggests that it would have rested on the shoulder of the owner, as a symbol of their prestige and importance.
