Small Hide Shield (Possibly Fragment of Once Larger Shield). Kirdi Culture, Northern Cameroon

This small Kirdi hide shield, with a handle attached to the rear, appears to be a fragment of a once-larger shield. The front of the shield features embossed, raised decorations typical of Kirdi shields. Adorning the surface of the shield are striations of ochre and black natural pigments.
