This beautifully sculpted Biteki figure depicts a female, crowned with a large abstracted coiffure. A wonderful sense of movement is conveyed through the sweeping arms of the figure which converge forming a V- shape at the back, and the legs exhibit Cubist-like qualities to their form. The stylised face features a typically long nose with a series of holes beneath, and a pair of prominent protruding ears. The body of the figure displays a carved representation of female genitalia, primitive in creation, and red pigment has been originally applied to the surface of the piece throughout, which over time, has now faded in parts.
