This Igbo spiral currency (Manilla) is impressive in its size and exhibits a wonderfully exaggerated twisted, spiral form.
Spiral iron currencies of various shapes and forms were traded throughout West and Central Africa throughout the nineteenth century, and up until the first quarter of the twentieth century.
