Fly Whisk With Finely Carved Janus Figures. Teke Culture, DRC

The handle of this fly whisk features two finely carved Janus figures - a male and female- with their arms resting on their crouched upper legs. The faces of the figures display fine striations, and the surface of the fly whisk exhibits a deep, worn patina.
