This Zigua fetish has a wonderful presence and primal expression. The wooden figure with white beaded eyes has been wrapped with thin strips of fibre and leather that encompass the figure and the animal horn attached to its back. This custom of wrapping figures in cloth and/or animal hide is a unique occurrence in African figurative art and is practised only by a small group of tribes in the mountainous region of north-eastern Tanzania.
