Woman's Apron Decorated With Metal Beads of Copper, Aluminium and Iron. Turkana Culture, Kenya

The surface of the hide apron has been decorated with rows of metal beads separated into four vertical sections. The amazing feature of this apron is how these metal beads of iron, copper and aluminium are derived. The raw component of these beads in particular the iron and copper, were mined in the local Turkana region, the beads are then hand forged, beaten and crafted.

Estimated Period: 1930's - 1950's.
