Small High-Backed Chair. Jimma Culture, Ethiopia

A small to medium-sized 19th-Century Ethiopian chair, typically carved from a single block of wood. The chair features an elegant arched backrest with a circular openwork design at its centre and is supported by three gracefully curved legs. It shows a deep, well-worn and glossy patina from years of use.
