Masterfully woven and crocheted from raffia fibre, this rare Kuba head adornment displays an unusual feature of two ear-shaped protrusions at the summit of the cap. A dark brown-coloured cross shape is emblazoned at the front of the head adornment, echoed by a band of dark brown around the rim.
Areas of striking raised patterns flank the cross design, and long strands of attached animal hair - which is a further unusual feature - decorate this important piece.
