Bedja (Beja) headrests from eastern Sudan are rare to find. Characterised by their pyramid-shaped bases and tripartite structures, such headrests share stylistic similarities with early Egyptian headrests - an influence that likely migrated down the Nile into Sudan. The curved neck support of this headrest has been joined to the base with a central metal pin, and rows of early metal tacks decorate the lower portion of the upright support.
