Carved from a heavy wood, this fine and early female figure is depicted standing in an upright position. Her head is crowned with a prominent double-parted coiffure, and both arms draw attention to her stomach in a visual gesture of maternity. The figure has a roughly cut chiselled and grooved surface which over time has developed a worn, deep and dark patina.
