The stopper to this fine large container depicts a family of monkeys, a mother holding her baby with another baby to her side. It is unusual to find horned containers from this region of Tanzania with a wooden stopper in this style. The hollow animal horn that forms the container for traditional medicines is wrapped with generations of hide and fibre strands.
