This Pare piece has a dual purpose - as both a container and a fetish object. Consisting of a large animal horn body, the top section of the container/fetish object has been woven over with natural fibre, in which the spiralling direction of the weave beautifully follows the curving form of the horn. This woven fibre section wonderfully culminates into a shape which allows the carved wooden stopper to securely and tightly fit into the top. The surface of the horn exhibits an encrusted patina, and above, the woven fibre is caked in deep, thick, oily patina. A handle, attached to the container/fetish object, enables the object to be hung.
