Sold as a collection each of these medicine containers displays their own distinctive characteristics. One of the gourd containers features a carved wooden stopper depicting a male head with large, rounded ears, another has a stopper in the form of a female head with a plaited hairstyle. The two smaller containers have been connected together by fibre, and would have been traditionally used as a double container. Decorating the bodies of the containers are cowrie shells and glass beads.
