This long pin exhibits a beautiful elegant, sweeping form and features intricately carved geometric decorations - consisting of rows of small triangular and cross-hatched designs, dispersed between three rounded forms, one below the feet of the figure. Surmounting the pin is a slender, standing female figure with a worn smooth patina, depicted with her arms resting by her pronounced navel. The figure features a pair of low-set ears, and crowning her head is a stylised, double-tiered coiffure. It is unusual to find hair pins in a curved form such as this example, coming from Tanzania.
