FINE RARE NYAMWEZI HIGH BACKED CHAIR, TANZANIA

Rare High Backed Chieftains Chair. Nyamwezi Culture, Tanzania

This fine example of a chieftain's throne was kept as an important symbol of rank, power and status by Nyamwezi chiefs of Central and Western Tanzania. The all over surface patina is deep, rich and worn. Traditional restorations appear to the curved legs and to both of the arms.
