Miniature figures such as this were traditionally kept as protective amulets. This wonderful early casting depicts a female figure with prominent breasts and her arms resting on her stomach, in a sign of maternity and/or fertility. She stands with slightly bent legs, and her head, which is slightly turned upwards, features a powerful jaw and protruding lips. The surface patina of the figure is rough, corroded and worn in parts from touching and handling over time.
