The upper body of the doll represents a typical form of a 'Mwana Hiti' commonly found amongst the Kwere and Doe cultures in the coastal region of Tanzania. What is unusual about this figure is the extension of the pair of abstracted legs which gives the piece a wonderful presence. The figure has a wonderful glossy patina from handling and touching over time. Decoration the neck of the figure is a metal chain and strands of early glass beads.
