Female Figure with Mask. Chokwe or Luvale Cultures, Angola

Finely carved Chokwe or Luvale figure, representing a standing female with bent legs and wearing a mask. The figure holds a staff in one hand with her other hand gently resting on her stomach. Carved from a hard wood, the surface patina is rich and worn in parts.
