This small chair has a beautiful form and patina. Typically low to the ground such chairs are found amongst the Dan and Baule cultures of the Ivory Coast. It has a simply formed curved back support with four short supporting legs with notched designs. Carved from a hard brown wood, the chair has developed a wonderful lusty patina as a result of use and handling over time.
