This curated collection of eighteenth-century Akan gold weights consists of a variety of geometric, animal and figurative gold weights. This includes four eighteenth-century geometric gold weights, a nineteenth-century bird gold weight, a nineteenth-century double crocodile gold weight, a nineteenth-century figurative gold weight, and a nineteenth-century gold weight depicting a ceremonial wand. Also included in this collection is a finely decorated nineteenth-century Akan container, which would have been traditionally used to store gold dust.
