From a side profile view, this bangle appears to resemble an animal - a ram maybe. However, when the piece is turned, the figurative form of an arched man, holding what appears to be a ceremonial horn to his mouth, becomes apparent. How the artist has incorporated both these features in one is the defining feature of this unusual adornment. The casting and patina feels mid to late 19th century.
