A beautiful very finely decorated Ashante 'Forowa' container. Such containers made from brass sheet where traditionally used to store shea butter, personal valuables and gold dust. Made in the turn of the 20th Century from fine imported brass sheeting, the painstaking workmanship represents the cultural importance of such pieces. This particular museum quality example has been beautifully decorated with an array of raised designs and motifs such as a man holding a snake, birds, scorpion, crocodile, royal wand, snake and frog, royal stool and a human head. Inside can be found a export certificate from the Ghana Museum and Monuments Board dated 8 August 1980.
