Mid-20th Century Beaded Woman's Bag/Neck Adornment with Cowrie Shells. Toposa Culture, Southern Sudan

This attractive beaded bag from South Sudan would have been worn as a neck adornment by a Toposa woman.

The bag consists of fine rows of coloured glass beads and cowrie shells, which have been sewn onto an animal-hide backing.
