The surface of the weight is silky smooth and worn but still showing enough of the details of the body of the small beetle.
The artisan's of the Akan created an array of miniature casting of cast-from-life natural objects and insects. Beetle bugs seemed to be particularly popular possibly because of the detail that could be obtained in the casting.
