This beautiful, finely cast small bronze gold weight dates to the nineteenth-century. Representing an antelope, the gold weight features what appears to be a rope or harness around the animal's neck. A similar example of Akan gold weight is described in Tom Phillips' publication, African Goldweights: Miniature Sculptures from Ghana 1400 - 1900 (page 66).
