A woven panel such as this would have decorated the walls of a traditional Mbole meeting house. The panels are made from woven bark fibre decorated with striking geometric designs. The dark-coloured strands of fibre, used to create the bold abstract decorations against a pale background, have been dyed with the roots of the banana tree.
This panel has been mounted on a custom-made mount. Each panel is unique - no two panels are the same.
